Coordinated terror attacks leave dozens dead in Paris The French President Francois Hollande has blamed Islamic State for last night’s wave of terror attacks in Paris in which 128 people were killed.

“Terrorist attacks of an unprecedented level are under way across the Paris region”, Hollande said in an emotional televised message. Another was killed by police, and prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre said authorities can’t rule out that other attackers are at large. The current official death toll stands at 127 though 80 people remain in a critical condition in hospital with officials saying the death toll is likely to rise.

The attackers then stormed a concert hall, the Bataclan, hosting an American rock band, opened fire on the panicked audience, then took them hostage.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a visit to the United Kingdom, said he condemned “the barbaric terrorist attacks in Paris in the strongest terms”.

NY Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city was on constant alert for any potential attacks that may follow the horror in the French capital. I saw at least two shooters, but I heard others talk. “They cried, ‘It’s Hollande’s fault.’ I heard one of the shooters shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,”‘ Sylvain told The Associated Press. President Obama called the attacks “outrageous” and pledged USA support for France. “The perpetrators of these heinous attacks must be apprehended and brought to justice.” .

More than 500 French fighters are thought to be with Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, according to official figures, while 250 have returned and a few 750 expressed a desire to go.

The attacks came within days of attacks claimed by Islamic State militants on a Shi’ite Muslim district of southern Beirut in Lebanon, and a Russian tourist aircraft which crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

IS also suffered significant reversals this week, with Kurdish forces launching an offensive to retake the strategic Iraqi city of Sinjar and the US military saying it had likely killed Mohammed Emwazi, the masked British-accented militant known as “Jihadi John” who is seen in grisly IS beheading videos.

The attacks were carried out not far from the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper, where 12 people were shot dead in January in an attack carried out by radicalized brothers. Twenty people died in those attacks, including three shooters. They have been truthful with Allah and we consider them as such, Allah conquered by his own hand, and put fear into the hearts of the crusaders in their own land.
