SPI Piling

We have the skills, knowledge and a comprehensive modern fleet of piling plant and equipment to carry out temporary and permanent steel piled installations with our own highly trained workforce.  We work on a design and install principle for the delivery of steel piling and have in-house design engineers working with Contracts Managers and estimators to ensure the most economic solution is provided to customers.  We develop solutions from £5,000 to £10,000,000 based on the following range of equipment to suit any customer requirement;

·         Vibratory Leader Rig – purpose designed for installation and extraction of sheet piles.  These rigs have short set up times, high output capability and all operations are carried out near or at ground level

·         Hydraulic Pile Press – uses previously driven piles to drive and extract piles without noise or vibration if required.  The press and power pack are self contained and ideal for environmentally sensitive, inner city, restricted or constrained sites and over open water

·         ‘Grizzly’ Hammers – mounted to an excavator the hammer is self sufficient once pile packs are unloaded.  This hammer is ideal for working in restricted conditions, including headroom, and can drive on embankments.  The hammer can also drive tubular piles and posts.

·         Vibratory Hammers – crane suspended and adaptable to pile type

·         Impact hammers – attached to leader rig and adaptable to pile type

Design

Starting from your needs and first principles, we conceptualise solutions that fit the need. Experience, engineering nous, materials technologies and information technologies combined to create genuinely new results. A creative process both constrained and liberated by science and technology.

Working from the concept brief, our teams identify the techniques, materials and products that will work to create the extraordinary results sought, and set out what the project performance will be, define the costs, weight and size data and any specific limitations that may need to be considered.

Detailed 3D and 2D CAD data, circuit schematics for electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic, air/water movement and statutory approvals data will be generated and carefully collated at this stage. Potential conflicts are checked and physical, electrical materials and environment compatibility is ascertained.

Finally the finished system is ready to test in anger, performance to be confirmed, and any adjustments needed to be documented. At this stage a detailed review is conducted to prove the validity of techniques used, and learn from each result in detail to optimise ongoing design and production.

Research

Laboratory or Cloud, Physical parameters or Data Analysis - Research is the lifeblood of future industry.

Expectations of comfort, security, and visibility have never been greater. The internet of things, so called, means that previously dumb devices are providing data, and opening opportunities for control never before seen. Overall, the democratisation of information, combined with the operations of governments to protect their countries, and the relentless economic pressure to achieve more for less presents unique challenges, but serious opportunities.
Previous work has included detailed interactive thermal modelling for prediction and scaling of thermal systems, acoustic modelling, prediction and auralisation, restoration of damaged audio recordings, software system implementations for parametric environmental control, and development of open sourced modules for control and communication.

Technical

The refrigeration vapour compression cycle is a complex field when assessed in detail, due to the intereaction of change of state, volume, heat content and enthalpy of refrigerants. It is a field where there is much scope for better understanding and implementation, and we have tools in house to measure and adjust thermal flows. We also have the support of an excellent network of suppliers who are prime sources for production of bespoke coils, heat exchangers and fan units.

The noise and vibration levels present in an environment are a critical part of the conditions that humans are called upon to experience, enjoy, operate in and even endure! We have the experience, equipment and procedures to record, measure, analyse, report on and resolve issues and problems around this sphere.

Delivery of airflow to the point of need is a critical strategy in the design of our climate control systems, and a large percentage of the capacity of the system and its energy use can be saved if the air and cooling are ducted direct to the body or equipment. An example of this is our ManPAC system, which delivers carefully controlled cooling to the soldiers upper body, greatly reducing the cooling required.

Thermal transfer through materials is critical in the understanding of extreme environments, even more so than in buildings where there is often a degree of tolerance.

Having an understanding of the function of the human body and mind and the conditions that it is subject to is an essential precursor to the delivery of appropriately designed temperature, humidity, noise and vibration control. It is equally essential to differentiate between the stresses and overall effect on cognitive function that occurs in an office environment, as distinct from, for example, a dance floor, oil rig or operational military vehicle.

We are always on the lookout for new technologies in the field of thermodynamics that can be employed in the search of the perfect human environment. Examples of some recent developments are the use of thermo electric coolers, heat pipe transfer technology and evaporative coolers.

Indel Webasto Refrigeration Solutions

At the beginning of 2008, Webasto and Indel B, one of the leading refrigerator manufacturers in Italy, formed an alliance to achieve more comfort on board: The joint venture was named Indel Webasto Marine. Their product brands, Isotherm and Isotemp, are well known throughout the marine industry and are considered to be a synonym for quality.

Isotherm refrigerators and freezers are the result of careful research. Marine refrigerators operate under tough conditions: They must withstand violent movement, operate noiselessly, be thoroughly reliable – and perhaps the most important of all – consume the absolute minimum battery power.

When cooling makes the difference to comfort.

Two temperature preferences – one reliable system.

You can’t control the weather, but the climate below deck!

Webasto is the only supplier of complete climate solutions in the Marine industry. Providing heating and cooling comfort from a single source and unlimited options for climate comfort below deck.

Seafarers do not like limitations. That is why Webasto has developed solutions which extend the boating season. Most air-conditioning systems feature a circuit inversion function which allows the system to be used for heating.

Webasto offers the BlueComfort system for total independence from environmental conditions. It consists of water heating and air conditioning integrated into a single system. This unique solution is cost-effective and compact and provides a perfect climate via a single centralized system.
